Hi sweet friends. I’m so glad you are here. My name is Kerry. I have been a follower of Jesus for over 30 years. My husband, Keith, and I met in 1985, married in 1994, and are raising two wonderful boys. Our families have lived in Austin for over 40 years and can’t imagine living anywhere else. Keith is an estate planning attorney, licensed Christian counselor, and Extreme Flag football coach to our sons. He is the most even-tempered man I have ever known. Our boys are in the teen/pre-teen stages. We also have three very active dogs: border collie, lab mix, and German shepherd. So it pretty much goes without saying that my home is very active and loud. But I would not trade the crazy for anything in the world.
Recently I have been studying a not-so-known concept that has revolutionized my marriage and relationships with my children. Have you heard of Love and Respect? I first heard of this from a fellow Christian blogger and author, April Cassidy. She is the Peaceful Wife (also the Peaceful Mom and Peaceful Single Girl). I highly recommend her to anyone seeking to live a godly life, but has absolutely no idea how to do that. She stumbled upon Dr. Emerson Eggerichs’ book Love and Respect and totally changed her way of relating to her husband and children. Love and Respect is Biblically based, found in Ephesians, 1 Peter, and Colossians. Easy to miss, this command for wives to respect their husbands is the key to a peaceful union in marriage. Through this blog I hope to share insights into respecting our husbands and how our Biblical behavior actually will motivate our husbands to love us as God has called them to.
As sisters in Christ, let’s encourage each other to live respectfully with our husbands (and sons) and model this lifestyle for others who may be struggling in their marriages.
