In today’s love dare we are encouraged to get to know our spouse. Now you may think this is funny or unnecessary if you have been married for many years. However, did you somewhere along the line stop getting to know your spouse. Are there things that they are interested in that you are not aware of? What about their new interests? Do you commonly share those, or do you need to ask them to tell you about the new things they have learned? Maybe it is a new song they have heard, or a new TV show that they have discovered. Or maybe they have started a new job that you really know nothing about.
It is time to ask. Get to know your spouse again the same way you did when you were first courting or married. Then listen, really listen.
Ask Proverbs 18:15 “The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”
Listen Proverbs 10:14 “Wise men store up knowledge, but with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand.”
Ask God for Discernment Proverbs 2:6 “The Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
Proverbs 24:3-4 “By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Desire to know your spouse even better than you do now.
CHALLENGE: Prepare a special dinner at home, just for the two of you. Focus this time on getting to know your spouse better.
