Yesterday we learned the importance of having Jesus living in our hearts. Today we will learn to depend on God to meet our needs. We must trust Him to do this instead of our spouse. They are incapable of meeting our every need. They are unable to satisfy all of the demands that we place on them. Partly because they are human, partly because we may be unreasonable in our requests. However, our God is not limited. His resources are endless. Philippians 4:19 “My God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus”. Only God can provide inner peace to our stress, Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”.
I need to point out that there is a diference between needs and wants. You see, as we stay connected to the Vine, Jesus, He will speak to our hearts, letting us know of His desires for our lives. When we read of God answering our prayers, we must be aware that not all of our requests are in line with His will for our lives. So the answer may not be what we are wanting. Or the answer may be to wait for awhile longer before receiving what we are asking for.
Psalm 37:4 says “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”.
Remember, God is your everyday supply of everything we need.
CHALLENGE: Be intentional about making time to pray and study your Bible. If you are unsure where to start, begin with the Gospel of John. Read a Proverb a day for a month (there are 31 Proverb chapters, one for each day). As you read His word, He will speak to your heart.
