Love requires us to be sensitive to our spouse’s needs, sometimes before they share them with us. Be tuned in to what is going on with their job, extended family, or personal health issues. Always be available to listen when they express concerns, being sure to follow-up on how they are doing. Love motivates us to show compassion instead of annoyance when words of frustration are expressed concerning a problem they are experiencing. Often all is really needed is a listening ear and a heart of compassion. You may not be able to solve their problem, but you can show your support with encouraging words. And be sure to offer to pray with them over any situation they are worried about.
Matthew 25:35-36 “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’”
CHALLENGE: Seek to meet a need in your spouse’s life. Help take the burden from their shoulders. Big or small, purpose to do what you can to meet this need.
