We have already learned that the purpose of marriage is for the husband and wife to work together as a team, to be joined together as one. God created each of us to complete our spouse, where one is weak, the other is strong. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 “Two people are better than one. When two people work together, they get more work done. If one person falls, the other person can reach out to help. But those who are alone when they fall have no one to help them.”
Our differences can be sources of blessings. We were designed to compliment each other. If one is good at housekeeping, the other may be better suited to keep the yard looking groomed. With the children, one may have the role of police-officer, while the other may be more of a peace-maker. We were not meant to be exactly like our spouse. We were meant to lift each other up and to be each other’s strength in weaknesses.
CHALLENGE: Recognize your differences as being a blessing to your marriage. Work together in decision-making and respect each other’s opinions.
