Today’s dare reminds us that God showers us with love and acceptance even though we are in no way deserving of His grace. When we consider our spouse and their needs, or requests, let’s be mindful of the fact that we are all sinners in need of grace and forgiveness. Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” We must continually express a heart of love and forgiveness toward our spouse. Ephesians 2:1-5 “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
So let’s now consider what we can do to express love to the one who means so much to us? What is the one thing that they desire the most from you? It doesn’t have to be expensive, or even cost money at all. Just think about something you can do to express unexpected love today. What would happen if you rekindled the fire that has long since become nothing but burning embers? Return to the place you once were at when you first began your relationship.
Let’s seek to walk as Jesus walked and model His love for others.
CHALLENGE: Prayerfully consider what you can do for your spouse. Commit to meeting this need today if possible.
