Think back to when you were first married. Or when you were courting. The excitement you felt when you were reunited with your significant other was incredible. But over the years things change and we begin to take each other for granted. Little things that used to mean so much now are forgotten and no longer seem so important. Like for instance, greeting each other. When was the last time you greeted each other with a kiss? How often do you drop whatever you are doing and focus entirely on your spouse when they come home? Are you distracted with the kids, dinner, cleaning, or on the phone (or Facebook). Do the dogs seem more excited than you do when the door opens? Resolve today to change this and return to a place of giving a loving greeting each time you are together.
Read the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15. Reflect on the father’s greeting of his long lost son.
CHALLENGE: Think of a specific way you’d like to greet your spouse today and do it with enthusiasm.
